Someone Is going to have to explain to me very slowly and very clearly exactly what is happening with this launcher thing. I come from Australia. I'm approximately thick as two bricks.
My launcher did not automatically update. The one I'm left with is completely unusable with the wall of script errors it quotes me every time I open it.
When I attempted to use the repair tool It simply disappeared from the games directory~
I can't seem to find any obvious link to download the new launcher and If I attempt to download straight from the website It wants me to completely reinstall my game. This is not an acceptable choice, because I'm from Australia, downloading EVE would take upwards of 50 hours.
What do I do...? |

I hope I didn't type this too fast... :)
So I have the new launcher thing... but its not doing its job. I haven't actually used the launcher to -launch- EVE in a very long time due to the fact that when I attempt to screen capture the game all it does is show the launcher window and not the game window.
While the game seems to play from the launcher, any patches that it says it download doesn't apply to the EVE.exe file which makes screen capturing impossible for me. and to add ontop of that pain in the ass all the settings I had have been reset. I don't frikkn remember all those settings. |

CCP Snorlax wrote:If you are bypassing the launcher to start the game, note that the executable lives in a new place. There should now be a tq folder under your shared cache folder, containing the client for connecting to Tranquility. Other folders are used for the test servers. Your shared cache location can be seen from Settings, Shared Cache Settings. You can then run the game from sharedcachelocation\tq\bin\exefile.exe. You can migrate your settings from old installations. Click the cog wheel to the right of your account name, Manage Profiles. See https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=6304808#post6304808 for more information.
Alright I can understand all that. I seemed to get all my settings back.. there is just the small problem that my shared cache folder is completely empty.. Yes I've set the folder options to show invisible files. its still empty and its digital footprint reflects that.
In an earlier attempt to fix the problems its had the repair disapeared when I attempted to use it... there is a maintenance tool aswell which simply tells me the game is corrupt and gives me only one option to reinstall. the same thing happens when I attempt to use windows control panel to repair the game. it just gives me one and only option to reinstall from scratch.. Whis is completely un-necessary it still plays from the launcher...
I'm so confuse... |

[quote=CCP Snorlax You must be looking at the wrong location - did you look in Settings, Shared Cache Settings? Use the Show in Explorer button to open that folder up. The game wouldn't run from the launcher if this folder is empty.[/quote]
I was looking in the wrong place.. I seem to have found all the things but there are still lingering problems.
Logging in with the launcher gives me all my settings but using the backdoor .exe returns to completely blank slate settings. |

CCP Snorlax wrote: OK, we're almost there. You need to add a command line argument to specify the settings profile to use. Add /settingsProfile=Default (or whatever profile you want) to the command line for running exefile.exe.
alright~ This is where you really have to start treating me like I'm completely un-educated. I group stuff like editing script alongside brain surgery~ One fuckup and the entire script implodes~ I'm prone to fuckups. |
